Making adjustments to the pattern
After a week of pounding out the Gospel of Mark, sprinkled liberally with swear words, on an Island with twelve college students I am glad to be home. Don’t get me wrong. It was a wonderful experience, but afterwards an escape into less serious matters is welcome.
But what am I saying. Onetruepants is anything but trivial, and trying on the first pattern made me a bit lightheaded. I headed over to Kish’s studio today with my son Cato and a few apple wedges in order to give the pattern a go. After lowering the wasteband, taking them in, adding a gussett and raising the cuffs a bit it was decided that the best route would be for Kish to keep the pattern for another day or two and make some more adjustments.
The front pockets worked great, and hold promise for being the perfect pouches for ample goods. A little more challenging was working out the right dimensions for the crouch and my thighs/butt. Honestly, I know I am not quite the same skinny guy I was in college at 6’1″ and 145 pounds, but I still don’t see myself as being bulky by any means. Still, I tend to run into the problem of having pants pinch around my hips and not at my waste like one would expect.
With Kish taking the problem head on, I plan on returning Thursday to see where the one true pants stand.
