Wearing pattern number two: pocket magic
More foul weather in Salt Lake City, but at least I am wearing pattern number two for one true pants even as I type. The pattern material is the same as what is used in cheap sheets, so it won’t work quite the same as the hemp fabric we will use for the actually prototype of OTP. But the experience of wearing the pattern around in helpful nonetheless.
The duel front pockets are working great. Phone, wallet and keys can be carried without clanking into each other and they rest comfortably both in standing and sitting modes. The primary front pocket rests a little closer to the side of my leg and has a wide-angled opening. This allows for easy access while seated without allowing items to slide out on their own. The secondary front pocket (resting behind the primary and right up against my leg) has a slit opening partially disguised by the seem and has a forward slant that keeps items from shifting to the side or back of my leg. This pocket is also shallower to avoid items from resting on top of each other.
Once we master the crotch area and find the perfect balance between formal slacks and durable work-pants we will find the permanent resting place for the mid-leg pocket, which will eventually be the home of my iphone. Along those lines Kish is working up a new pattern while I wear these at home. I plan to return next Tuesday for another fitting.
